Intellectual Property (IP), Copyrights, and Patents

3D printing technology has made it easier than ever to replicate objects, but it is critical to respect the legal rights of original designers and engineers. When you upload a file to be printed at Monkeys' Uncle 3D, you must ensure that you own the rights to the design or have obtained the appropriate licenses to reproduce it commercially.

• Patents: Patents cover inventions, processes, and functional manufacturing designs, generally lasting for 20 years from the date of application. Printing, using, or selling a patented item without permission can constitute patent infringement.

• Copyrights: Copyright laws protect artistic expressions fixed in a tangible medium, generally lasting for the life of the author plus 70 years. For example, if a sculptor holds the copyright to a statue, reproducing an identical or highly similar statue without paying royalties or waiting for the copyright to expire is an infringement.

• Our Policy: While some IP laws contain standard limitations or exceptions for "private" or "non-commercial" use, our commercial printing services fall outside those private-use exemptions. We reserve the right to refuse to print any uploaded files that clearly violate active trademarks, copyrights, or patents.

Firearms and Weapons Policy

The distribution of digital 3D printable files for firearms components presents significant public safety risks, which have been heavily monitored by agencies like the US Department of Homeland Security. 

• Strict Prohibition: Monkeys' Uncle 3D strictly complies with all regional and national weapons legislation. We will absolutely refuse to print any firearms, firearm components, or regulated weapons. Our facility is strictly dedicated to creative, industrial, and functional manufacturing.

Quality Assurance and Limitation of Liability

We are committed to delivering "bananas detail" and adhering to the rigorous quality requirements that define industrial additive manufacturing, however, the nature of custom manufacturing requires a shared responsibility.

• Engineering Liability: Any performance parameters, specific design features, or geometric tolerances should not be automatically inferred simply by utilizing our services. Buyers seeking quotes for custom parts are entirely responsible for defining the specific requirements and structural tolerances needed for their parts to function safely. Monkeys' Uncle 3D makes no representation or warranty regarding the final part's suitability for load-bearing, life-saving, or structural end-use applications unless specifically engineered and certified.
